All-Terrain Tires
All-terrain tires, as the name implies, are tires that are designed to
be flexible and perform well any many terrains, but never quite master any of them. If your vehicle will be
driving on the street a lot, all-terrain tires may be a tire to consider. They offer generally acceptable off
road performance, while allowing for a more comfortable street ride. Of the different types of off road tires
for sale, this is often the tamest contender.
Despite the fact that it is not an extreme tire, it is still one of the most highly sought after types of tires on
the market. Below we review the details of four very popular all-terrain tires.
BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO: The All-Terrain T/A KO (”KO” for Key benefit On-
and Off-road), with its aggressive, computer-optimized, high-void tread pattern is BFGoodrich’s On-/Off-Road
strongest entry in to the all-terrain tires category. This tire was developed to meet the needs of pickup truck and
sport utility vehicle drivers who want confidence and control on and off the road. The All-Terrain T/A KO was
designed to deliver go-anywhere traction along with outstanding durability and great wear.
Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo:
The Dueler A/T REVO with UNI-T AQII Technology was developed by Bridgestone for the all-terrain tires market to
meet the needs of pickup truck and sport utility vehicle drivers who drive their vehicle both on and off the road.
The Dueler A/T REVO is Bridgestone's first Off-Road All-Terrain light truck tire in America to feature UNI-T AQII
Technology. It uses an advanced compound and construction features that enhance and preserve wet traction
throughout the tire's life to better handle wet road conditions.
Dick Cepek Radial F-C II:
The Radial F-C II is Dick Cepek's On-/Off-Road All-Terrain light truck tire developed for enthusiastic pickup truck
and sport utility vehicle drivers looking for tough radials in large sizes. The Radial F-C II is designed to fit
between traditional all-terrain and mud-terrain tire designs to offer any-terrain traction.
The Radial F-C II features an 18/32" to 22/32" deep (depending on
size) symmetric tread design that combines independent tread lugs for off-road traction, sipes for better
grip on smooth surfaces and stone kickers to provide self-cleaning action. Dick Cepek's trademark "DC"
Sidebiters molded onto the upper sidewalls provide added protection and more traction in loose surfaces. The
Radial F-C II's internal structure uses a heavy-duty mud tire carcass which features twin steel belts on top
of a polyester carcass.
Wrangler AT Extreme: The Wrangler AT Extreme is Goodyear's On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tire
developed initially for Original Equipment use on the HUMMER H2 and HUMMER H2 SUT (Sport Utility Truck: half SUV,
half pickup truck). The Wrangler AT Extreme is an all-terrain tire that was designed to combine on-road capability
with off-road traction on dirt and sand, as well as in snow and mud.
On the outside, the Wrangler AT Extreme molds a cut and chip-resistant
compound into a multi-faceted symmetric tread design with large, independent tread blocks for directional
stability, steering response and traction. Full depth circumferential grooves evacuate water to resist
hydroplaning and multiple lateral grooves and sipes enhance traction in loose surfaces.
